Keanini Earns Knights' First PacWest Weekly Top 10 Selection

Phoenix, AZ – Senior outside hitter Leinani Keanini was the first Urban Knight selected to the PacWest Volleyball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll this season after leading ART U in many categories at the 2011 Humboldt State Tournament this past week. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Sept. 5 for games contested on Aug. 29 - Sept. 4.

The Urban Knights finished the tournament strong over St. Martin's on Saturday 3-2 (24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 15-9), and Keanini played a big part in all four contests. In the win over St. Martin's, the Kailua, HI native amassed 30 digs and six service aces, both good for second-most in program history. On the first day of the tournament, Keanini totaled 28 kills and 18 digs in two matches against Cal State East Bay and Central Washington.

Over the entirety of the tournament, Keanini averaged 4.23 points and 3.60 kills per set, good for fourth in the PacWest in both categories. She totaled 63.5 points on 54 kills, had eight service aces, and three block assists. In addition, Keanini also ranked fourth in digs with 54 over 15 sets in the tournament, good for a 3.60 average.

Keanini led Academy of Art in kills in three of the four matches, coming in second to fellow senior Amy Bush in the loss to Cal State East Bay. She also led the team in digs in two of the four matches.

The selection marked Keanini's first of 2011, and third of her career as an Urban Knight.
