Hawaii Trip Ends On Sour Note for ART U Volleyball

Box Score

Honolulu, HI -- Hawaii Pacific was none too pleased when the Urban Knights came in last Thursday and pulled off the 3-2 upset, and exacted their revenge on Sunday night at St. Andrew's Priory, winning in four sets this time, 25-21, 21-25, 19-25, 18-25. The Knights continued their good play against top conference opponents, but the Sea Warriors would not be denied from reaching the double-digit plateau for wins in conference.

Leinani Keanini extended her streak of double-digit kills to eight games with a 12-kill, 14-dig performance, and Amy Bush reminded fans why she was the PacWest hitting percentage leader last year, notching 13 kills and an impressive .522 hitting percentage, but the Knights could not draw up the plans for another upset against HPU. Angela Heath added 13 kills and 17 digs, setter Melissa Cheng had 38 assists, and freshman libero Midori Le led all players with 28 digs.

The Sea Warriors cut down on their errors dramatically from Thursday to Sunday, and it played a big part in their retribution win. The last time these two teams faced each other, Hawaii Pacific had 35 errors, but only had 20 in the rematch. The Knights reversed field as well, making 33 errors, including 10 by Ka'ena Kaina, who could not repeat her 15-kill, 4-block night from Thursday.

The Urban Knights will play their final game of 2011 on Friday, Nov. 11 at Kezar Pavilion, and will honor seniors Keanini, Bush, Nicolette Hagan, and Camille Board in a pregame ceremony.
