Urban Knights Freeze Penguins For the Win

Head Coach Allison Magner picked up her ninth win at the helm of the ART U women's volleyball club. The Urban Knights traveled to San Rafael, CA and defeated Dominican University in three sets, 25-21, 25-19, 25-13, in their last conference match before heading to Hawaii.

ART U as a team hit an astonishing .298 for the game, while Dominican hit just .093.  The key to the Urban Knights victory tonight was defense. ART U finished the match with 53 digs. Leinani Keanini had a match high 22 of those 53. Freshman Kanoe Irvine posted 10 digs in the match. The Urban Knights shut down the Penguins attack at the net, out blocking DU 7 - 4. Amy Bush registered 3 block assists in the win, while senior Dan Yang tallied two block solos along with two block assists.

"We improved in every set tonight," said Magner. "Both Camille and Amy had excellent performances and led the team on the court," Magner continued.

Three players finished the match with double digit kills, with Dan Yang leading the pack with 15 kills and eight digs. Both Board and Bush contributed 12 kills a piece in the win. Angela Heath added seven kills and a block assist, while Melissa Cheng had a match high 42 assists.

"Tonight was a total team effort, we remained consistent and played our game," Magner added.

For the Penguins Seluia Falealili led DU with 10 kills. While Ashley Pittman finished with 10 digs.

The Urban Knights return home on Tuesday evening for their final non-conference match against Holy Names, opening serve is set for 7:00 PM.
