2009 Crystal Springs Invitational Women's Team & Individual Results
San Mateo, CA -- The Urban Knights women's cross country team competed in the Crystal Springs Invitational held by the College of San Mateo on Friday and Academy of Art finished 6th overall out of 13 teams. Junior
Irinel Zamfir had the top AAU finish with 4th place and a time of 19:33.53 followed by sophomore
Denisse Correa who crossed the line in 5th place with a time of 19:33.95.
Zamfir and
Correa were supported by freshman
Stacey Toth who completed the race in 30th place (21:16.24) and junior
Monica Anguiano who came in 42nd place with a time of 22:27.69. Sophomore
Lorraine Etchell, competing in her first race for Academy of Art, rounded out the Urban Knights' top five with a 64th place finish and a time of 26:27.25. Also taking part in the meet were freshman
Madeline Houston who took 66th place (26:58.86) and sophomore
Miranda Wiley who finished in 70th place (28:07.02).
In terms of team results, the Knights took 6th place ahead of Modesto Junior College as well as Bethany University and Menlo College of the California Pacific Conference. Academy of Art runners completed the course in an average time of 21:51. Overall, the race was won by Hartnell College followed by Cerritos College in second place and De Anza College in third.
Academy of Art University returns to San Francisco for its next meet on Oct. 9 when the Knights will compete in the SF State Invitational at Golden Gate Park.
