PacWest volleyball twinbill scheduled for live broadcast on Oct. 29

HONOLULU, HI - The Pacific West Conference and Oceanic Cable Channel 16 have agreed to televise a PacWest volleyball doubleheader on Wednesday, Oct. 29, live from McCabe Gymnasium on the campus of Chaminade University of Honolulu.

The opening match will feature Hawai'i Pacific University squaring off against new PacWest member Academy of Art University from San Francisco at 5:30 p.m. HT in a non-league match.

It will mark the first ever meeting between the Sea Warriors and the Urban Knights, setting the stage for 2009 when AAU plays a complete conference schedule.

The nightcap will feature host Chaminade taking on perennial PacWest power BYU-Hawaii.

“This is an historic event for both the PacWest and OC-16,” Bob Hogue, the PacWest Commissioner, stated. “This is a chance for volleyball fans to see four outstanding and up-and-coming programs on a single night.  The PacWest is the conference of champions, and here's an opportunity to see great athletes and terrific coaches showcase their talents.  Its a true indication of our growing success in the PacWest.”

In addition to being televised live on OC-16 and simulcast over the Internet at www.oc16.tv, PacWest volleyball also will be broadcast by OC-16 on the following dates:

Oct. 21 - Grand Canyon @ Hawai'i Pacific

Oct. 22 – Grand Canyon @ BYU-Hawaii

Oct. 25 – Hawai'i Hilo @ Chaminade

"This is the strongest televised conference volleyball schedule we have ever had," Hogue said. "We look forward to expanding our televised schedules with PacWest basketball, softball and baseball."
