In some of the toughest conditions golfers could face thanks to winds gusting between 20-30 miles per hour, junior Matthew Watkins kept focused on his game and was able to earn the second tournament victory of his career at the Chico State Wildcat Classic by ending action at 2-over-par 146. Named the PacWest Golfer of the Week for the third time in his career just days later on Oct. 13, Watkins was the only golfer in the field to shoot even-par 72 or better in the opening round, and was able to cement his ART U record 11th top-10 finish of his career by ending the tournament with a total of six birdies.
