Daquan Berry was an absolute renaissance man at the PacWest Conference Championships this past weekend. After competing in the prelims of both the 100m and 200m on
Friday, Berry was in action in four different sprint events on
Saturday and won them all resulting in him being named Most Outstanding Track Athlete.
Berry took the 100m title after delivering a personal record 10.62 which gave him sole possession of fourth in program history. The Communications & Media Technologies major then ran his fastest 200m time in an ART U uniform at 21.24, winning the event and rising to third in ART U history with what was also an Outdoor Nationals provisional now 22nd in the country.
Berry also played a part in both relays, joining Ajani Ince, Shareez Hamm, and Lennard Marshall for a first-place 41.57 mark in the 4x100m. At the day's conclusion, Berry combined with Makarios Page, Oboh, and Hamm to go 3:14.04, besting four other teams for the top spot in the 4x400m.
All told, Berry helped contribute 20 points individually and five as part of the two relays to his team's score.
