Academy of Art University could not have captured its first two victories in baseball program history without freshman pitcher Drew Sullivan-Hames (1-4). On Friday versus Grand Canyon, the right-hander earned the Urban Knights’ historical first save by preserving a close 5-4 win for sophomore teammate Alex Rosenthal (1-4). Sullivan-Hames then came in to start the final game of the series, an 8-6 victory for AAU, and threw 6.1 sparkling innings with two earned runs allowed and another first for the Knights: seven strikeouts. By the end of the week, Sullivan-Hames had the first save, the second win, and was the only Academy of Art pitcher ever to record seven strikeouts in one contest.
