Sophomore Maria "Belen" Tenorio posted three impressive singles wins for Academy of Art University women's tennis this past week while battling a leg injury. Although the Knights went 1-3 in the Paseo Tournament held in Glendale, AZ, Tenorio had an incredible 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 victory at the #3 singles position in AAU's 6-3 win over Montana State - Billings. She defeated her Western New Mexico opponent 7-5, 6-2 again in the #3 singles slot and Tenorio also earned a straight sets victory 6-4, 6-4 at #6 singles versus Midwestern State. Tenorio persevered through intense heat all three days and Head Coach Dave Allen said it was the best tennis he had ever seen her play.
