Academy of Art University men's soccer freshman goalkeeper Kevin Mendez continued the stellar start to his career last week by being named the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 Kezar Classic. Mendez posted a 1-0-1 record with two overtime shutouts and 10 total saves. He did not allow a goal in 208 minutes played. He earned his second win of the season Saturday after shutting out San Francisco State for 98 minutes. He also led the Urban Knights to their first draw versus Chico State on Thursday, playing 110 minutes of shutout soccer. For his efforts, Mendez was named Pacific West Conference Defender of the Week for the week of Sept. 7-13.
