Academy of Art University women's golf sophomore Crystal Wang finished 27th at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship last week, completing the first-ever appearance by an ART U golfer at the championship.

Wang improved her score in each of the last two rounds to finish with a 312 (+24) four-round score. She finished ninth among individuals who qualified for the championship and was the seventh finishing player from the West region.

Wang was the first non-cross country or track and field athlete in the history of Academy of Art athletics to compete at a national championship. She finished her season with a 76.7 stroke average over 29 rounds, an improvement of more than a stroke from her 77.8 average per round last season.
