Sophomore starting pitcher Josh Lopez threw his longest outing of the year Sunday, going 6 1/3 innings and only allowing one earned run at Hawaii Pacific in a close 2-1 defeat.

Lopez retired the first six batters he faced and scattered seven hits while only walking one -- an intentional walk -- and limiting Hawaii Pacific to just one run through six innings. The game would end on a throwing error that allowed an HPU player to score the winning unearned run from second. Lopez had stranded the go-ahead run at third in the bottom of the sixth by inducing a double play.
