Picking up right where she left off in December, Juvonna Cornette showed her explosiveness during the first weekend of action for Academy of Art track & field in the New Year.

The Jan. 13 Spokane Indoor Challenge featured near-history as Cornette qualified through the 60m prelims in second of 23 with her fifth sub-7.56 time of the season before winning the final with a 7.41 mark that was just 0.01 seconds from the ART U record shared by multi-time Hall of Famer Vashti Thomas and Selena Arjona-Alcazar. The Interior Architecture & Design major put herself sixth in NCAA Division II with the Indoor Nationals provisional qualification.

"Juvonna had a good win in the 60m against some really tough early season competition," said Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Kevin LaSure.
