Bryon Sheng enters his first season with Academy of Art University women’s basketball.
Sheng’s coaching experience includes four years at St. Mary’s Academy in Portland, Oregon under Coach Art Rojas. The Blues made the state tournament each of those years and assisted 16 students in earning athletic scholarships including ART U’s Sha’Nice Storey and Sheng's daughter, Zoie.
He also founded the Oregon Reign Basketball Club in 2004 and coached the team until 2012. Over the eight years, Sheng led a program that went on to win several national tournaments and supported several athletes make the jump to the collegiate level, including Elizabeth Brenner (Oregon ’16), Jean Parker (Army ’16), Emily Ben Jumbo (Loyola Marymount ’15), Shoni Schimmel (Louisville’14 and current WNBA player with the Atlanta Dream), and Jude Schimmel (Louisville’15). While coaching the Reign, Sheng was selected as a coach for the adidas Candace Parker All-Stars that traveled to Japan to compete against international competition during a Goodwill tour.
Sheng also made his way to the silver screen as a featured coach in the basketball documentary, Off the Rez that followed the Schimmel family's journey from a Native-American Reservation in Eastern Oregon to their rise as two of the top recruited basketball athletes in the country.
When Sheng isn’t coaching from the ART U sidelines, he can be found working with some of the top athletes in the world, including Muhammad Ali, Shaquille O’Neal, Marshawn Lynch, and Cristiano Ronaldo. Sheng has held multiple managerial positions in the athletic industry with career stops at Nike, adidas, And 1, UNDRCRWN, and Monster Products. He’s currently the Chief Marketing Officer for Chronicled, Inc., a tech company focusing on using the blockchain platform to eliminate counterfeit products and is the president and founder of the Dunk Cancer Foundation, that donates proceeds raised from online t-shirt campaigns to various non-profits working towards finding a cure to cancer and helping families and patients effected by the disease.
Sheng was born and raised Pasadena, California where he attended John Muir High School and played three years on the Varsity Basketball team. After graduation, he went on to play at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, California majoring in business and sports marketing.
Sheng is married to Kimberlee Sheng, and has two children, Zoie and Jett.
