Austin Brobst – Field Events
A 2007 UNM graduate and former University of New Mexico athlete Brobst joins the Academy of Art staff from the University of New Mexico where he served as a graduate assistant for 2 years. As a graduate assistant at New Mexico Brobst was responsible for coaching the horizontal jumpers and assisting with the sprints and hurdles. In 2010 Brobst was the meet director and coordinator for the high school meets hosted at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Under his direction the meets brought in high school athletes from New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, California, and other southwestern high schools.
Brobst was part of the staff that led the Lobos' men's team to an eighth-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships and 16th in 2009. He coached UNM's first female indoor All-American Deanna Young in 2009, and in 2008 coached Alesha Walker to an Olympic Trials birth in the Long Jump. While at UNM, Brobst worked with 3 All-American, 6 Top 10 All-Time UNM Marks, 7 Regional Qualifying Marks, 2 School Record Holders, 18 MWC Finalists, 5 USATF Sr and Jr National Qualifiers
Brobst recently completed his graduate degree in Sports Administration at UNM.
