Knights Find Improvement At Tim Tierney Shootout's Ending

Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout Results (Day 2)

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The first tournament for Academy of Art women's golf in 2024 concluded Tuesday as the team wrapped up the second day of action at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout from Corica Park Golf Course. After the conclusion of play, the Urban Knights shot nine strokes better in the final round as they finished tied for 12th place overall as a team with their 65-over-par 641.

Ending with the best individual score for ART U was freshman Chantel Tsai as she improved on day two by nine strokes with three birdies to take a 4-over-par through the second round and a 13-over-par 157 overall. Sophomore Nicole Yang was next up for the Knights with a 14-over-par 158, also seeing improvement by nine strokes. Graduate student Jae Eun Park was third on the team with a 19-over-par 163 while senior Napat "Plern" Rattanaprakarn followed up with a 25-over-par 169 going towards the team score. Senior Valeria Cruz wrapped up for ART U with a 28-over-par 172.

Cal State East Bay created a come-from-behind win to steal the team title away from Cal State Los Angeles as the Pioneers found victory in their home tournament with a combined score of 16-over-par 592 to take the win by just one stroke over CSULA. Morgan Sjoerdsma remained as the individual leader throughout day two as well as she took home the solo title with her 5-under-par 139.

The Knights will next hit the course next Monday, Mar. 4 at the SMSU Spring Invitational in Litchfield, Ariz. at Wigwam Golf Club.
