HOME COOKING

Academy of Art women's soccer will be back at their home field this Thursday for one contest as the Urban Knights will host Biola at SF Glens at Treasure Island Field for their first home match of Pacific West Conference play of 2024.

Danielle MedellinKICKOFF
The lone match of the week will take place this Thursday as the second match of ART U soccer's doubleheader scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff. KNIGHT WATCH
Graduate student goalkeeper Nicole Peoples has shown what she is capable of guarding ART U's net all season long, as she currently ranks first place in total saves within the PacWest Conference with 54 total (top 20 in NCAA Division II) while she also contains an average of 7.71 saves per game (14th in NCAA DII). Additionally, on 131 shots faced, Peoples has seen just 14 get past her, giving herself a goal against average of 2.00. Over on the offensive side, freshman defender Mia Gonzalez leads the Knights in points while junior forward Danielle Medellin is right behind. Medellin is also second on the team in shots taken (8) while sophomore forward Jade Alverio holds the most (11), while over half have been on target (6).

CAGING THE EAGLES
Winless through nine matches to start 2024 are the Eagles after they've managed to tally four ties into their 0-5-4 overall record, while being 0-3-2 in PacWest Conference action. As ART U will be Biola's 10th opponent of the season, the Eagles' defense has shown that they are tough to score on, as they've never allowed more than two scores against them through all nine showings. Five members of the squad have earned a point this year, while Marije Rechin leads the way with six total, as she's scored three goals on 12 shots to start the year. Meanwhile behind the backline guarding between the posts has been Autumn Monty, who holds a 1.41 goals against average as she's given up 11 scores while racking up 32 saves.

KNIGHTS NOT ABLE TO CLOSE AFTER SHARKS' EARLY START
In a match graduate student goalkeeper Nicole Peoples added another eight saves towards her season total, Academy of Art women's soccer saw themselves down early to Hawaii Pacific and could not create the comeback to result in a 2-0 triumph for the Sharks on Oct. 6.

LOOKING AHEAD
ART U will hit the road once again, as the Urban Knights will compete at Dominican on Thursday, Oct. 17 for a match before returning back to their home field for a three-match homestand.
