AZUSA, Calif. – It was tough for Academy of Art women's soccer to keep up with the offense from Azusa Pacific during their Pacific West Conference showdown on Monday, as APU would walk away the victors, 6-0.
The Cougars (10-4-0, 5-2-0 PacWest) controlled much of the play against the Urban Knights (2-8-2, 1-6-0 PacWest), scoring in the 11th minute to set the tone of the match. Despite their best efforts to remain close, ART U would see Azusa Pacific score three more times in the first half, before adding another two in the second frame. Bethany Tee and Maddy Morrison each had four points for APU, with Tee scoring once and assisting on two others while Morrison had a two-goal game.
Despite the goals allowed, senior goalkeeper
Jordyn Wight would make eight saves by the end of the match, a new career high. The leading shot taker for Academy of Art, junior forward
Brooklyn Morera, would add to her total with a shot in the first half.
It will be almost a week before the Urban Knights return to the pitch, as they will battle against Hawaii Pacific on Oct. 31 beginning at noon.
