2021 Bronco Invitational Results
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Running against a total of 12 NCAA Division I schools in Santa Clara's Bronco Invitational, Academy of Art men's cross country turned in four season-bests (including one personal record) en route to 14th overall on Saturday morning out at Baylands Park.
Leading the Urban Knights for the fourth consecutive meet, junior
Saba Khvichava completed the 8k course in a time of 24:36.9 which was not only his season-best by six seconds, but also put him sixth in program history. He was just one tenth of a second back of Stanford's second finisher and took 36th overall (33rd toward team scoring).
Junior
Hudson Lockette offered the second-fastest time of his ART U career with a 25:38.2 that was good for his best this season. He finished 84th overall (71st toward team scoring) and was followed by the tandem of graduate student
Abdelouakil Mustapha (25:52.3) and junior
Markus Anderson Deakin (25:54.0). Dropping his time for a third consecutive meet to a personal record once again, Mustapha went 94th overall (81st toward team scoring) with Anderson Deakin's season-best putting him 95th overall (82nd toward team scoring). Rounding out the Academy of Art competitors was graduate student
Owen Day with a 27:20.3 mark at 114th overall (95th toward team scoring).
As a team, ART U (363) finished 14th out of the 15 squads in action, just back of Sacramento State (360) and ahead of San Jose State (471). The top team on Saturday was Portland State (67) with three of top five finishers while UC Santa Barbara's Nick Randazzo (23:24.2) claimed the first spot.
When the Urban Knights compete next it will be in Hawaii for the Pacific West Conference Championship at Kahuku Golf Course on Saturday, Oct. 23.
