HONOLULU -- In the third game of the series against Hawaii Pacific, Academy of Art baseball fell to the Sharks 11-3, Sunday afternoon at Hans L'Orange Park.
Senior pitcher
Angel Mora took the mound for the Urban Knights and had a three up three down first. ART U fell behind when the Sharks knocked in three runs in the second and one in the third.
Academy of Art picked up some offensive momentum when senior catcher
Zak May reached on a wild pitch. ART U got on the board with a single up the middle by sophomore
Noah Daubin for his second run batted in of the series. However, the Sharks answered back bringing home a run in the bottom of the fourth, and three in the fifth for an 8-1 lead headed into the final innings.
In the bottom of the sixth, ART U brought in senior
Donnie Gardiner to pitch for Mora who held off HPU's high caliber offense through the seventh inning. Then in the top of the eighth May, the current RBI leader for the Knights, launched a double to center sending home junior outfielders
Thomas Delgadillo and
Daniel Curiel. Despite the attempted late rally, HPU came back to score three more runs in the bottom of the eighth and hand the Urban Knights an 11-3 loss.
Academy of Art is now 11-10 overall and 3-7 in conference. The Urban Knights will look to avoid the sweep when they play their final game against HPU tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. HT.
