ART U Drops 2-0 Match to Biola

LA MIRADA, Calif. – Academy of Art fell 2-0 to Biola on Thursday night at Al Barbour Field in their first of two Southern California away matches.

The Eagles controlled the ball the majority of the first half and put five shots on goal, but junior goalkeeper Lara Pflicke was impenetrable, denying each attempt. On the offensive side, senior forward Anissa Wilson notched the lone ART U shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the Eagles' goalkeeper dove to her left to save a would be goal. 

Biola finally broke through in the 54th minute, when an ART U defender got tripped up, allowing an Eagle attacker to play in an open cross to the center of the penalty box. The cross was contested and deflected about, but the ball popped out to Katelyn Penner who ripped a shot to the back of the net. Biola added another in the 68th minute for a 2-0 lead and ultimately victory. 

ART U registered a new season high in saves with nine. Pflicke secured seven while freshman goalkeeper Nicole Peoples picked up a pair, including her first career save. Wilson led the Knights with two shots on goal, while sophomore midfielder Reyna Valencia took one shot on target. 

The Urban Knights fall to 5-4-1 overall and 1-2 in conference while the Eagles remain a perfect 3-0 in PacWest play. ART U will continue their Southern California road trip as they travel to San Diego to face Point Loma on Oct. 19 with a kickoff slated for 11:30 a.m.
