2018 Oxy Invitational Results
LOS ANGELES – In its final meet prior to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, Academy of Art University came through with a series of solid marks in the Oxy Invitational on Saturday at Occidental College's Bill Henry Track.
Among a collection of highlights,
Gatien Airiau dropped the best 5000m time of his career under the lights, finishing 14:14.15 for the second-fastest mark in program history and a Nationals provisional. He moves into the top 20 in the country in the event.
Airiau's fellow distance mate
Victor Moreau also produced a lifetime-best, crossing the line at 3:50.82 in the 1500m. It was good for a Nationals provisional qualifier, put him among the top 15 in the event on the day, and cut a little over 50 tenths of a second off his previous best.
After posting the 11th fastest 4x100m time across NCAA DII the previous night, 4x100m, the quartet of
Marlon Britton,
Mobolade Ajomale,
Nicolas Morales Williams, and
Arrun Palacio combined to go 40.85 in the late afternoon on Saturday. The mark, though not faster than the 40.66 they turned in at the Azusa Pacific Twilight & Multi, was still a Nationals provisional.
In the men's 100m, Ajomale posted one of the fastest times of the day, going 10.45. It was the top time from the 11-time All-American in the past two weeks and he remains seventh in the country with a season-best of 10.32.
Although she did not better her season-best in the 800m,
Beatriz Martinez Mercado still offered a strong 2:12.29 for her third Nationals provisional time in the event this season.
With its final times in the books, ART U awaits the announcement of which marks will earn qualification to NCAA Nationals taking place in Charlotte, N.C. on May 24-26.
