Hawaii Pacific enters the series against ART U with an 11-21 conference mark and they are in second-to-last place in the PacWest. Both series were at home. Christian Kapeliela leads both the Sharks and the PacWest with a .421 batting average his .509 on-base percentage ranks second in the conference. Kapeliela also leads HPU in a great number of other offensive categories, including: RBI (33), runs (33), doubles (12), home runs (seven), triples (2), and slugging percentage (.699).
