Daniel Farfan posted some impressive numbers during his
game-three start against Concordia. In a seven-inning game, Farfan tossed a career-high 9.0 innings while allowing just one run on five hits, five walks, and four strikeouts. The freshman leads the Urban Knights with a .220 batting average against and is just the second pitcher on the staff to complete 9.0 innings in a game this season.
Â
SHARKS COOLING OFF HPU enters the series 17-9 overall and 9-7 in the PacWest (fifth-place), but is currently in the midst of a 2-4 dryspell after facing California Baptist and Azusa Pacific. The Sharks have been an offensive force all season however, playing host to four players with batting averages over .300. Steven Camberos leads the team with a .348 batting average, four home runs, 27 runs batted in, and a .667 slugging percentage.
Â
LANCERS ON TOPCalifornia Baptist is ranked 10th in the country and is first in the PacWest with a record of 23-7, 13-3 PacWest. One of their three conference losses came at the hands of HPU on March 24. Â Despite the loss, the Lancers have still won 11 of their previous 14 matchups. ART U BASEBALL FALLS 2-0 TO CAP SERIESMarch 20 -Â Despite a complete-game effort from junior left hander
Alexander Kuisel, the Urban Knights (7-18, 2-9 PacWest) were unable to put a run across, falling 2-0 in the series finale against Concordia (16-16, 12-8 PacWest).
Â
The game was scoreless for the opening three innings as neither side was able to crack the scoreboard. In fact, Kuisel did not surrender his first hit of the ballgame until the fourth inning when the Eagles' John Bornhop singled through the right side to drive in Tino Leite for the team's first run; Concordia exited the inning with a 1-0 lead.
Â
LOOKING AHEADAfter the four-game set with CBU, ART U will return to Southern California once again, facing off with Point Loma in San Diego. The series is set to begin with a noon and 3:00 p.m. double header on Friday, April 15.
