KNOTABLE KNIGHTSThroughout the season's first three weeks, a different player has topped the leaderboard after every series. Currently leading the team with a .300 batting average is senior outfielder
Greg Ivory. Ivory is also tied for the most runs batted in (5). Over the weekend there were a couple of standouts who deserve to be mentioned as well. Redshirt junior infielder
Erick Luna launched ART U's first home run of the season over the left field wall in
Friday's game against the Gators and posted a .571 (4-for-7) average over the series' first two games. Senior
Tyler Strawn also enjoyed success over the past three games: the infielder batted at a .416 clip with a pair of runs batted in.
WILDCATS ON THE ROADCentral Washington comes into the series with the Urban Knights 2-3, having only played five contests thus far (all on the road). Reid Martinez has started the season on a hot note with a .429 (3-for-7) batting average with a triple, an RBI, and a .714 slugging percentage.
KNIGHTS FLIRT WITH WALKOFF, FALL 7-5February 21 - Sunday was a day full of emotions including a dramatic comeback and a disappointing final inning as the Urban Knights (3-7) dropped game three 7-5 to SF State (5-4).
Senior
Josh Lopez took to the hill for his second start of the season for the Urban Knights, looking to replicate his previous outing against
Chico State when he earned the win after 5.2 innings of work on six hits and one earned run. The Pinole native was out on the ropes early however, allowing four runs in the top of the first. Lopez was able to settle into a groove afterwards, allowing just one more run to cross to plate in his remaining 3.2 innings of work. In total, Lopez tossed 4.2 innings, allowing five runs (all earned) on nine hits, three walks, and two strikeouts.
LOOKING AHEADThe weekend following the Central Washington series, ART U will being their conference schedule with four-games against Fresno Pacific University (March 3-5).
