SAN FRANCISCO — Pacific West Conference play revs back up this week for the Academy of Art University baseball team as California Baptist comes to the Bay Area for a four-game series beginning Thursday.

The Urban Knights (3-13, 1-3 PacWest) will be looking to snap a five-game losing streak that dates to Feb. 27. The 1-2-1 series format – with a single game Thursday, doubleheader Friday and single game Saturday – is the second and last time this season that ART U will play that format. The team's six remaining four-game series will all be played as back-to-back doubleheaders in two days.

ABOUT CALIFORNIA BAPTIST
The Lancers (8-10, 0-0 PacWest) split a four-game series at home last weekend against Montana State-Billings, winning the first two games in extra innings by identical 4-3 scores before dropping the final two games of the series 6-3 and 15-7. The Lancers have lost eight of their last 11 games, including going 0-5 on the road during that stretch.

CBU's .301 team batting average is second-best in the PacWest. AJ David leads the Lancers with a .400 average. Stephen Lohr is the Lancers' top RBI man with 14 and is No. 2 on the team in average (.338) and home runs (2). Cal Baptist's 3.79 team ERA is third-best in the conference. Their regular starting trio of Jere McDonald (2.00 ERA), Adam Hofacket (3.51) and Tyson Miller (4.44) hold a starting staff ERA of 3.30.

CLUTCH NUMBERS
Numbers don't lie, and the numbers say senior catcher James Singzon is the guy to go to in the clutch. Singzon is batting .545 this season with runners in scoring position and .438 with two outs. He's batting .435 with runners on base and has gotten hits in two of three opportunities with runners on third base and less than two outs.

LOOKING AHEAD
Academy of Art plays a single mid-week game Tuesday at Sonoma State before closing out its season-long 16-game home stand with a four-game PacWest series against Point Loma beginning March 20.
