Box Score Rohnert Park, CA — The Academy of Art University women's soccer team put up a strong defensive effort Friday on the home turf of a Sonoma State team that entered the match averaging 2.6 goals per game, but the No. 22-ranked Seawolves still came away with a 2-0 victory at Seawolf Soccer Park.

Kayla Pritchett each put one shot on goal, but that was all the offense the Urban Knights (0-5-1) could muster against the Seawolves (6-0), who posted their sixth shutout victory of the season.

Both of Sonoma State's goals came off the foot of Lauren Curtin. Curtin first struck in the 21st minute when her well-placed shot off a free kick found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The score stayed that way until halftime, where SSU led the shots category 6-0.

Curtin scored again in the match's 59th minute, corralling a loose ball in the box off a corner kick and firing it home to give the Seawolves a 2-0 lead. Curtin led Sonoma State with seven shots, four on goal. Melissa LaFranchi also took three shots for the Seawolves.

The Urban Knights now turn their sights to PacWest Conference play. ART U opens conference action with a home match at 1 p.m. Thursday versus Hawaii Pacific at Crocker Amazon Park.
