LEADING OFF

The Knights braved the rainy weather last week and got in one game against Cal State Dominguez Hills, a game where they staged a gutsy ninth-inning comeback amidst the unforgiving elements but ultimately falling 6-4. The Urban Knights had the tying runners in scoring position with two outs, but the Toros closed the door. Chucky Cavestany had a multi-hit game and continues to open on a tear, hitting .778 on the season. Aaron Garabedian lowered his ERA to 2.53 with 5.1 innings of one-run ball.

WILDCATS SPLIT OPENING SERIES
Central Washington played another San Francisco team in their opening series, splitting against the Gators of San Francisco State back on February 1st. CWU fell in the opener 4-1 but came back to win the second game 5-3 behind a three-run fourth inning. Josh Potter is hitting .625 and has already hit two doubles on the year, while Potter, Justin Weigel, and Kyle Baumgartner each have two RBIs. On the pitching end, Brandon Williams has struck out five batters in seven innings, as only three pitchers have seen action for the Wildcats in their first two games.

KNIGHTS RUNNING WILD
The Urban Knights have shown off their wheels so far this year, stealing 18 bases in four games, an average of 4.5 steals per contest. To put that in comparison, they stole only 1.26 bases per game last year. They set a new single-game record with nine thefts against American Sports University, and continued to put the pressure on by stealing five more against CSUDH. Lyle "Kalani" Brackenridge is a perfect 5-for-5, while Joseph Marchini (4-for-4) and Daniel Robertson (3-for-3) are also perfect on the year. As a team, they're swiping bags at a 90% success rate, much higher than their 70% success rate of last season.

WHAT'S ON DECK
The Knights will hit the road for the first time this year, traveling to Chico State for a four-game set from February 21-23. They'll also be on the road against Azusa Pacific on February 28 and March 1 before returning home to face Dixie State on March 10-12.
