KNIGHTS CONTINUE HOMESTAND WITH SF STATE UP NEXT
After starting the season with a near-comeback against #4 Humboldt State and a Saint Martin's series that was rained out over the weekend, ART U Softball remains at home for its lone series this week with SF State in town.

FIRST PITCH
ART U welcomes SF State to Mission Blue Field this Wednesday, Feb. 12 for a 12:00 PM start to a doubleheader. Live Stats will be available for this game. Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights on Twitter & Instagram and "Like" the Urban Knights on Facebook for score updates, videos, and recaps.

KNIGHT WATCH
Through the first two games of the season, it is Kamyle Glover's .400 batting average (2-for-5) that leads Academy of Art. Glover went 2-for-2 in her first game of the year with the team's first triple and two runs batted in. Continuing to hit well after last season, Elise Oldham powered the Urban Knights' first home run of the year in game two against Humboldt and carries a .286 batting average (2-for-7) along with two RBIs into Wednesday. Sharing that average and her name, Elyse Cordova comes in hitting .286 with one RBI.

In the pitching circle, Jill Johnson (0-1) currently ranks fifth in the PacWest in ERA (2.00) after she went a complete 7.0 innings with two earned runs allowed on nine hits and four strikeouts against a potent Humboldt State lineup.

GETTING A GAUGE ON THE GATORS
Coming off a 22-30 season in 2013, SF State currently sits at 3-2 overall with wins against Cal State Dominguez Hills, Chico State, and Cal State Stanislaus which placed them in a tie for third in the Best of the West Tournament hosted by Stanislaus. They wrapped up the weekend with a 7-2 win over the host Warriors. As a team, the Gators hit .263, going 30-for-11 with seven extra base hits.  Senior Kelsey Murakami and junior Jennifer Lewis were named to the All-Tournament Team.  Murakami led SFSU with a .417 average, going 5-for-12 on the weekend, with a run scored and a RBI. Lewis finished the weekend going 5-for-13 and scored a team-high three runs while also driving in a team-leading three RBI. In the circle SF State was led by freshman Megan Clark who was named the CCAA Pitcher of the Week on February 2. The lefty went 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA throwing to complete games.

KNIGHTS RALLY LATE, BUT JACKS PREVAIL IN OPENER
Starting the season versus Humboldt State, the NFCA's #4 team in the country in the preseason, Academy of Art University broke through against tough pitching despite falling to the Lumberjacks in a Feb. 5 doubleheader out at Mission Blue Field. A fifth-inning rally by the Urban Knights in game one came a little too late as the Jacks took the opener 11-3, however, a two-run homer by Elise Oldham in the seventh inning of game two led a nail-biting comeback that fell just short with HSU on top 3-2.

A rainout prevented ART U from facing Saint Martin's this past Saturday so these two games from Opening Day are the only ones on the Knights' record thus far.

ON DECK
Academy of Art stays local next week with another home series against a CCAA opponent on Wednesday, Feb. 19. This time it is Sonoma State who will travel to Mission Blue Field for the 12:00 PM first pitch. Then, on Saturday, Feb. 22, ART U pairs up against Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont for a 1:00 PM doubleheader.
