APU Takes Victory Over Women's Soccer

Box Score

AZUSA, Calif. — Academy of Art University senior goalkeeper Rachael Rempe logged her sixth game of the season Thursday with at least eight saves, but Azusa Pacific broke through with three goals to come away with a 3-0 Pacific West Conference victory at Cougar Soccer Field.

Rempe made seven saves in the second half alone and has made 83 saves in 2014 to date, the second-highest single-season total of her career and fourth-most all-time for the Urban Knights. But Academy of Art (2-12-1, 2-7-0 PacWest) was outshot 21-3 in the game, including 11-1 on goal, leading to the 3-0 result.

Azusa Pacific (8-7-1, 6-3-1 PacWest) struck first in the seventh minute when Alyx Williams scored from 10 yards out on a cross into the box from Amanda Hardy, giving the Cougars an early 1-0 lead. APU would score again before halftime thanks to Darby Emmons. Emmons took a pass from Haley Fisher and shot high, just under the crossbar, to make it 2-0 before the break.

The score stayed that way for most of the second half until Fisher got involved again. This time it would be Fisher on the scoring end, tucking in a pass from Haley Williamson inside the box to give the Cougars their 3-0 advantage.

Academy of Art next travels to St. George, Utah, to face Dixie State for an 11:30 a.m. PDT kickoff Saturday.
