Day 2 Results
Litchfield Park, AZ -- In the final round of the PacWest Conference Championship, the Academy of Art University men's golf team finished strong and moved up two spots on the second day to finish sixth overall. The Urban Knights were closely bunched on the final day, with all five golfers within five strokes of each other to complete the tournament.
Dat Do was the highest finisher, shooting 78 on both days to tie for 23rd in a crowded field.
"The men worked hard today and never gave up," said head coach Cheryl Lala. "They stayed focused despite a few bad breaks. Overall I feel confident that we are moving in the right direction. I'm sad to see the season end so soon but glad we were able to maintain our ground."
The tournament stayed just as close as it did on the first day, with the Knights jumping up two spots in the standings but only finishing six strokes ahead of where they were yesterday in eighth place. Their score of 623 was right behind fifth-place BYU-Hawaii (621) while Dominican (620) jumped up to finish fourth. Dixie State (601) took third place, while UH Hilo slipped from first to second, firing a 593 on the day. Grand Canyon jumped up to take the tournament, slicing 16 strokes off of their score to finish at 588.

Sean Etow and
Cody Moore, who each shot 157 to tie for 28th.
Alberto "Dago" Esponda shaved four strokes off his first round score to finish at 158, which tied him for 35th place, and
Tommaso Vielmo knocked six strokes off his score to tie for 40th overall. Dalen Yamauchi (UHH) started the day in first and stayed there, finishing an even 144 for the tournament, but was joined by Jimmy Kozikowski (GCU) who lopped eight strokes off to tie for first. Grand Canyon owned the next two spots as well, as Mark Geddes and Alex Dahlquist tied for third with scores of 146. James Hall of UH Hilo fell from a tie for second to fifth place with a 147.
For Kozikowski, it was a big day, as he won a playoff to take the outright first place spot. He tied for Co-Player of the Year while also winning Newcomer of the Year for Grand Canyon. Yamauchi took Co-Player of the Year as well, while Hilo's coach Earl Tamiya was named Coach of the Year. Cody Wass was named Freshman of the Year out of Dixie State.
