Final Results
Turlock, CA -- Progressively moving ahead through each of the three rounds in the 40th Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, ART U Men's Golf completed the tournament tied for 10th overall in Tuesday's third and final round. Thanks to steady improvements by
Dat Do and continued solid play from
Alberto "Dago" Esponda, the Urban Knights joined Cal State San Bernardino in the middle of the pack at the Turlock Country Club.
Once again the top finisher for Academy of Art University, Esponda matched his first round score with a 78 on his final trip through the 18 holes to place him in a tie for 26th after his final score of 232 (78-76-78). Do moved into a tie for 40th with his three-round score of 237 (81-79-77), a product of his determined improvement.
Tommaso Vielmo served as the Knights' third finisher, picking up a 240 (83-78-79) which tied him for 50th overall.
Sean Etow was not far behind his teammate, finishing in a tie for 53rd following his three-round score of 242 (78-79-85). The individual winner was Trevor Clayton of Cal State Stanislaus as his second-round score powered him to a 214 (72-66-76).
Leading after the first two rounds, Cal State Stanislaus captured the team title with a score of 888. Cal State Monterey Bay ended up just two strokes back of the Warriors, collectively posting an 890 and led by Dylan Jackson's individual 222 which tied him for third. The battle for third place in the team scores went to Western Washington (915) with Sonoma State (919) not far behind in fourth. ART U (949) finished knotted with Cal State San Bernardino while ending ahead of Montana State Billings, California Baptist, Holy Names, Notre Dame de Namur, and Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The Urban Knights now head to Phoenix, AZ for their final regular season tournament, the Pacific West Conference Championships which will be hosted by Grand Canyon for two days beginning Monday, Apr. 22.
