San Francisco, CA -- The Academy of Art women's tennis team matched their season high win streak of the season with yet another sweeping victory on Sunday afternoon, this time a 9-0 drubbing of Winona State. The Urban Knights now have two separate six-game winning streaks sandwiched around their lone loss of the year, and Sunday's clean sweep marked their fifth 9-0 victory of the year.

The day started out with doubles play, and while the matches started out similarly across all three courts, the results were the same. The Urban Knights doubles teams each lost one set early, but recovered to post matching scores. Nina Gajdosikova & Daniela Amelunge Antelo handled their business on the first court, getting stronger as the match went on and winning 8-1. Michelle Dandik Zaale & Amal Ben El Hadj took down their opponents by the same score, and Jenny Johansson & Lucia Zavarcikova duplicated the score for a third time in third doubles.

Heading into singles play with a 3-0 lead, the Urban Knights just had to maintain their momentum. Ben El Hadj (6-0, 6-2) and Johansson (6-0, 6-0) were first to finish, as they both extended their undefeated streaks in singles play this year to 12-0 and 11-0, respectively. Gajdosikova took down Erin Kappers 6-2, 6-1 in first singles next, and then Zavarcikova defeated Brianna Havelka 6-2, 6-2 to make it a 7-0 score. Kinga Kurczbuch stepped into the sixth spot and handled Laura Roesslien 6-0, 6-0, and the final match of the day was another strong finish, as Dandik Zaale won the capper 6-4, 6-0.

The Urban Knights improved to 12-1 on the year, and with the regional rankings coming out on Wednesday ART U has put up a strong body of evidence to move up from their #30 ranking they hold currently. They'll have a doubleheader on Friday against Holy Names and Montana State at the SF City Tennis Club.
