Knights Stand Firm, Wang Finishes Third

The Academy of Art University women's golf team stood their ground in the team standings, but one of the Urban Knights newest members, Crystal Wang, jumped up and almost stood atop the leader board, settling for a tie for third place overall at the Western Washington Fall Invite. The Knights cut 14 strokes off as a team and ended in sole possession of ninth place out of 12 teams.

Wang, who led the Knights in the first round and was tied for ninth place overall, knocked off five strokes and shot an even 73 in the second round to finish tied for third place. Deanna Tyndall cut three strokes off to shoot 79, as did Melissa Genao, who dropped from an 86 to a 79. Roxanne Matta fired 84 for the second day in a row, while Mariana Pazos shot an 87 in the second round. University of British Columbia's Stephanie Wong and Kat Kennedy finished in the top two spots, while Jennifer Liedes tied with Wang for third place. Brittney Bisgrove from Dixie State finished fifth overall.

UBC took their top two finishers to a first place finish with a 614 as a team. UH Hilo had two players tie for eighth place and shot 627 to finish second, while Western Washington finished third. Saint Martin's took fourth place, while University of Victoria and Dixie State tied for fifth place with identical scores of 639.

ART U will be traveling to Santa Rosa on October 22-23 for the Sonoma State Invitational.
