Hilo, HI -- The Academy of Art University women's soccer team faced their second regionally-ranked opponent of the year, and for the second time against the tough competition, the Urban Knights hung with UH Hilo for the whole 90 minutes. Unfortunately, they eventually fell, as a first-half goal held up the whole way as the Vulcans kept the Knights off the board and handed them a 1-0 loss.
The Vulcans were raring to go, getting a shot on goal 27 seconds into the game, but the ball sailed wide. They would still jump on the board early, however, as a goal from Analysa Rodriguez in the tenth minute gave Hilo a 1-0 lead. The Knights followed with a pair of corner kicks, but were unable to convert, as Rempe notched two saves against the Hilo attack in the rest of the half.
In the second half, Rempe was busy early again, as Rempe turned away a shot from Kristine Pasek in the 48th minute. That same minute,
Taylor Powers got the Knights' first chance on goal, but it was saved, while
Hannah Emmett returned to shoot a minute later but her shot was also stopped. The Urban Knights would go on to get three shots on goal in the second half, but none found the back of the net, as the early goal remained the difference on the scoreboard.
The Knights have one more game in Hawaii against Hawaii Pacific University on Saturday before returning home for their season finale against Fresno Pacific on November 9.Â
