OPENING SERVE

The Urban Knights are still searching for their first PacWest victory after a tough week last week that took them through the Southern California section of their conference. The Knights had a pair of five-set losses against Point Loma and Azusa Pacific before being swept by California Baptist in the week's finale. Friday marks only their second home game of the season.

BACK AND FORTH VULCANS
The University of Hawai'i Hilo Vulcans volleyball team has been up and down over the past two weeks, as they have been alternating wins and losses over their last five games. After opening the PacWest slate with a loss to Hawai'i Pacific, they took one from Dixie State before losing to Grand Canyon at home. This past week they went on the road and took a 3-1 victory from Holy Names but then lost to Dominican in San Rafael. Bria Morgan is second in the league at kills per set and third in total kills with 198 so far in 2012, and setter Jolie Au is also in the top ten in assists.

KNIGHTS GETTING AROUND THE BLOCK
Academy of Art has been piling up the blocks in the middle, and so far in 2012 have out blocked their opponents 96 to 81. They have reached double-digits in blocks three separate times this year, and at the midway point of the season are on pace to have their highest block total since 2009. Lindsay Elgin's performance in the middle has been enough to earn her a spot in the top 10 in blocks in the PacWest. Caitlin Boring has also stepped it up over the past couple games, including a five-block performance against Azusa Pacific last week.

SETTING IT UP
The Knights are already halfway through the year, and with 13 games left to play will finally play some more games on their home turf starting with tonight's game against Hilo. They'll also be hosting Chaminade and Dominican next week at Kezar.
