Men's Golf Moves Up With Stellar Third Round in Chico

 The Academy of Art men's golf team improved their scores once again in the final round of the InterWest Insurance Wildcat Classic and jumped up two places to finish the tournament tied for 12th place overall. Sean Etow leapfrogged teammate Cody Moore in the individual standings with an outstanding round of 70 (2-under) to finish tied for 18th overall and Thomas Krepp finished the tournament off by shaving eight strokes off his score to shoot par for the day. 

The Knights took seven strokes off of their score from Monday, and four out of the five scorers lowered their total from the second round. Etow's mark was good enough to net him a top-20 finish, while Moore and Alberto "Dago" Esponda finished with identical scores of 228, which tied them for 46th place. Thomas Krepp had the biggest improvement of the day, dropping eight strokes off his second round score of 80 to finish with an even 72. Cole Yamane rounded out the scorers for the Urban Knights.

The Knights finished tied with PacWest rival California Baptist as both schools shot 906. They placed in front of Simon Fraser after starting the round ahead of Northwest Nazarene and Notre Dame de Namur. Cal State Stanislaus finished the tournament in first place overall, followed by Cal State Monterey Bay, Western Washington, and Dixie State. Chico State and Grand Canyon tied for fifth place.
