Belmont, CA --
The Urban Knights women's soccer team hit the road for the first time in almost a month on Thursday, and in their quest to win their fourth straight match against teams from the Bay Area, the Knights ran into a wall against South Bay rival Notre Dame de Namur, putting up three goals against the Argos, but falling by a final of 5-3. Academy of Art and the Argos combined for eight goals from eight different goal scorers, but the Knights came up short in the match at Koret Field.

After already matching their wins total from a year ago with last week's wins against Dominican and Holy Names, the Knights were looking for their third straight win, and things were looking up after the first goal. Jule Klandt, who was one goal away from a hat trick last week, got her third goal in two games in only the third minute of play, using a low cross from Makayla Hickman and putting it right down the middle to put the Urban Knights up 1-0. ART U struck again on a penalty kick in the 27th minute by senior captain Jasmine Sharpe, the Knights' first penalty kick of the year. That goal made it 2-0, and also put Sharpe over double-digits in points for the season.

Then NDNU mounted their counter-attack. Adriana Cortes scored in the 28th minute on a long ball that was headed back from Jessica Santos. A minute later, there was another penalty kick, this time by the Argos, which was buried by Alexis Tershay to tie the game at 2-2. Notre Dame de Namur then took the lead with four minutes left in the half on a goal from Vanessa Fuller. The Argos took three passes and a through ball and got it past ART U keeper Rachael Rempe to take a 3-2 advantage before the half.

The Argonauts continued to build their lead out of the break, as Jessica Santos took a pass from Amrun Singh and took it to the far post to make it 4-2 in the 47th minute. NDNU scored one more time in the 62nd minute on a give and go from Singh to make it 5-2. But the Knights fought back with one more goal in the 66th minute, as Giovanni Plater found ART U all-time points leader Hannah Emmett for her 14th career goal that made it a 5-3 game. But that was as close as the Knights could get, as Emmett and Klandt each got shots off that missed the mark.

After five straight weeks with two games, the Urban Knights will have a week off before traveling to Riverside to take on Cal Baptist next Saturday.
