OPENING SERVE

The Urban Knights faced three Bay Area opponents last week, and after two tough losses to Holy Names and Dominican, the Knights finished off the week with a dominant 3-0 win over South Bay foe Notre Dame de Namur. Academy of Art set a new season high for hitting percentage in a match, getting points at a .402 clip against the Argos.

SEA WARRIORS ON HOT STREAK
Hawai'i Pacific was having a hard go of it earlier this year, dropping five straight to fall to 1-5 on the conference schedule. But since a 3-2 win over Point Loma Nazarene University on Oct. 13, the Sea Warriors haven't lost, most recently pulling back-to-back sweeps over Chaminade and Notre Dame de Namur. They boast five players with over 100 kills so far, led by Haley Doerfler on the efficiency front (.292 hitting percentage) and Sanoe Recca (158 kills) in total kills.

SUCHY'S SEASON TAYLOR MADE
Rookie Taylor Suchy has burst onto the scene for the Urban Knights, showing up big with her best game of the year against Notre Dame de Namur last week. The freshman outside hitter notched 17 kills and had no errors, good for the second-best hitting percentage in program history (.654). Suchy has now taken over the lead on the team in total kills, and ranks among the PacWest leaders with 185. Taylor has 10 games with at least 10 kills, and her 17 against the Argos matched her career-high that she had against Minnesota State - Mankato way back on Sep. 1st of this year.

SEASIDERS SIT ATOP PACWEST AGAIN
The BYU-Hawai'i volleyball team is back in familiar territory, having just rattled off 14 straight wins since their 3-1 loss to at the time #6-ranked Southwest Minnesota on Sep. 1. The Seasiders are in first place in the PacWest, where they finished last year, going undefeated so far in conference. This year they are tied with newcomer Fresno Pacific, as both are jostling for position on the national level as well, with BYUH sitting at #8 in the polls and FPU at #13. The Seasiders are led by Shih Ting Chen, who has 256 kills this year and is third in the conference in hitting percentage (.350).

HALLOWEEK ON CAMPUS
The Urban Knights home games are part of a full week of activities for Academy of Art University students with Halloween just around the corner. The game on Thursday is Faculty & Staff Appreciation Knight, followed by the Creepy Carnival & Youth Knight on Friday. Friday also marks the Senior Day for both men's and women's soccer. To cap off the week, Academy of Art University Campus Life is hosting the Halloweek Ball.

SETTING IT UP
After these two home games, the Urban Knights will be on the road to Dixie State (Nov. 1) and Grand Canyon (Nov. 3) before returning home for two more home games to finish off the year against Notre Dame de Namur and Fresno Pacific.
