Game Notes (includes career/season-highs)
ACADEMY OF ART FACES GRAND CANYON IN FOUR:
Coming off a pair of solid outings against Dixie State last weekend, the Urban Knights now turn their attention to Grand Canyon University for a four-game series in Phoenix, AZ.
FIRST PITCH:
Academy of Art University heads to east for its four-game series beginning Mar. 12. The first pitch of the AAU-GCU Thursday doubleheader is set for 3:00 PM MST (2:00 PM PST). On Saturday, Mar. 13, the teams will play a second doubleheader starting at 1:00 PM MST (12:00 PM PST). All games can be heard on a live broadcast at

Twitter, and
CollegeFanz.
KNIGHT SPOTLIGHT:
The Pacific West Conference recognized junior outfielder
Ryan Worley with a place on the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for his efforts in five games this past week.
Worley, who now leads the team in batting average, went 11-for-19 (.579) with four runs scored, two runs batted in, two doubles (he is tied for the PacWest lead with five total), two stolen bases, and a triple. Sophomore left-handed pitcher
Zach Mexicano (0-1) and freshman right-hander
Drew Sullivan-Hames (0-4) each turned in strong performances against Dixie State on Mar. 6.
Mexicano pitched a complete game with three runs allowed on seven hits and five strikeouts.
Sullivan-Hames nearly threw a complete game himself with one earned run allowed over 6.2 innings with two strikeouts.
SCOUTING THE ANTELOPES:
Grand Canyon University has faced some of the top competition in NCAA Division II this season. The 'Lopes began their 2010 campaign with three convincing victories over Regis before dropping four games to #3 UC San Diego. From there, GCU enjoyed an 11-2 stretch that included a four-game sweep of Montana State-Billings. Most recently, Grand Canyon was bested by Hawaii Pacific in three of four and the Antelopes then went toe-to-toe in a 4-2 loss to #2 Arizona State on Tuesday, Mar. 9. Shortstop P.J. Garcia paces the team with .329 batting average, 24 hits, and 21 RBI.
Outfielder Joey Bristyan has hit two home runs for GCU and has scored the most runs in the conference (29). Brady Wager (4-1) has the most wins amongst starting pitchers while Jeff Urlaub (1-1) sports the best ERA (2.87) and leads in strikeouts (27).
KNIGHTS HOLD THEIR OWN AGAINST RED STORM
In the final two games of a four-part series versus Dixie State, the Urban Knights were right with the best team in the PacWest for the last two years. AAU and DSC faced off in a Mar. 6 doubleheader at Louis Guisto Field in Moraga, CA and both contests were pitcher duels.
Mexicano went the distance in the first game and even held league's second-best offense to a single hit over three innings midway through.
Sullivan-Hames, the starter in game two, allowed only one earned run through 6.2 innings of work. Unfortunately for Academy of Art, the Red Storm prevailed 3-1 and 8-2, but the performances on the mound were extremely encouraging. Freshman shortstop
Stefen Henderson had two doubles in game two along with one RBI.
LOOKING AHEAD:
Following the trip to Grand Canyon University, Academy of Art returns home for a five-game series against the Sea Warriors of Hawaii Pacific.
The series is set to begin with a noon doubleheader on Friday, Mar. 19 and lasts until Mar. 21.
