KNIGHTS CAN'T LAND HAWKS
The Urban Knight women's basketball team dropped a 65-50 decision to the visiting Holy Names University Hawks on Saturday Dec 4 at Kezar Pavilion. The 'three' was the difference in the game as the Hawks connected on six of their 25 three-point attempts while the Urban Knights were just two of 15 from downtown. Holy Names is  4-7 on the season, while ART U dropped to 1-5.

ART U was led by Nolan who finished with 18 points, 16 rebounds, three assists and one steal. “Jess is coming into stride in taking more of an aggressive role on this team. Good things happen when she plays hard. She has the ability to score, and get her teammates involved,” said Yamasaki. DeRosier hit some big shots for the Urban Knights and finished with 11 points, three rebounds and two assists. And Griggs was a presence for the Knights under the basket, adding 10 points and five rebounds.

SCOUTING THE LUMBERJACKS
The Lumberjacks are 1-4 going into their game with ART U. Humboldt lone win came in their 75-60 victory over St. Martin's University in their season opener. The Jacks have already played three conference matches, opening their CCAA season with an 0-3 start. Their latest loss comes at the hands of Cal State Stanislaus, 78-81.

Jeanette DeWitt, Bree Hasley, and Jenna Hamilton all share the scoring responsibilities. DeWitt went for 24 points in the Jacks' loss to Western Washington University on Nov. 20. Overall, Hasley leads the Jacks in scoring with 14.2 ppg, DeWitt and Hamilton are next on the team with 13.6 ppg and 13.2 ppg respectively. Hasley also leads Humboldt State in rebounds; she has accumulated 46 total boards and averages 9.2 per game, while DeWitt adds 7.8 rpg.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS

Cal State East Bay started their 2010-11 season with two exhibition matches. Their first obstacle was against Division I opponent Pacific University where they were defeated 67-44. The Pioneers then dropped their next game to Holy Names University 65-59. CSUEB played two non-conference matches before facing San Francisco State to start CCAA play. The Pioneers have yet to register a win coming into their game with the Urban Knights.

Claudia Nelson leads the Pioneers offensively,  she is averaging 10.3 points per game. Cassie Coble is next on the team with 8.3 points per game. Nelson and Coble have been the Pioneers leading scorers in three of their four games. Nelson registered a season high 17 points in East Bay's 46-38 loss to SF State. Marlene MacMillan leads the Pioneers on the glass with 41 total boards and a 10.3 rebound per game average.

KNIGHT TO WATCH

Jessica Nolan scored a season high18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in the Urban Knights 65-50 loss to Holy Names on Dec. 4. Nolan shot 63.6% (7 for 11) from the floor while also adding three assists and one steal.

The 16 rebound performance places Nolan in third place in the conference with 10.2 rebounds per game. Nolan, however, is second in offensive rebounds (3.3) and defensive rebounds (6.8) per game in the conference.

The senior currently ranks 12th in the PacWest in scoring with a 10.7 points per game average. While placing in the top 10 in steals with 12 total on the season and two steals per game.
