Volleyball Set to Play Final Non-Conference Match

FOUR IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
The Urban Knights have not lost to Holy Names since they began play in 2008, they are 4-0 against the Hawks overall. ART U has won three in a row going into Tuesday nights' match, and hope to make it four going into their four game road stint in Hawaii.

WEEKLY TOP TEN
Junior middle blocker Camille Board has been named the Pacific West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

Board led the Urban Knights to a 2-0 week with a non-league win over William Jessup and a 3-0 sweep of Dominican University. She led the conference in hitting for the week, posting a .613 percentage on 21 kills in 31 attempts with just two errors. Head Coach Allison Magner continues to be impressed with the juniors' play this season, as Board has led the team in numerous matches.

She ranked fifth in kills per game (3.50) and fourth in points per game (4.25), totaling 25.5 points on the 21 kills, five block assists, one block solo and one service ace.

Melissa Cheng earned a spot on the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor for her play last week. The sophomore topped the PacWest in assists per game (12.17). Cheng has totaled 74 assists in two games; including a match high 42 assists in the Urban Knights sweep of Dominican University.

Dan Yang returns to the PacWest Honor Roll this week after a one week absence. Yang led the PacWest in points per game (6.00) and kills per set (5.00) for the week. Yang totaled 18 points on 15 kills, a career high two block solos and two block assists, while also tying for third in blocks per game (1.33).

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Holy Names has four players with 100+ kills thus far. Ashley Nickell leads the Hawks offensively with 192 kills, while Samantha Miller has pitched in 189. Rachel Vartanian is third on the team in kills with 129, and Britnay Silva rounds out the top with 118 kills. Mariah Christensen and Natalie Kasbaraian are leading the Hawks at the setting position; Christensen has dished out a team high 360 assists, while Kasbaraian is right behind her with 329. At the net for the Hawks, Rachel Vartanian has team high 52 blocks, 28 block solos and 24 block assists.

LAST MEETING RECAP
The last time these two teams met, ART U emerged with a 3-1 victory (25-16, 20-25, 25-19, 25-18).  It was the Urban Knights' middle blockers who were the key's to their success.

Amy Bush had 15 kills, while Camille Board added seven. Dan Yang finished the match with 22 kills and 14 digs, tying her second highest number of kills this season. Melissa Cheng shined at the setting position finishing the match with 50 assists and seven kills.

ART U's Defense was solid, as they out blocked the Hawks 6-2, and out dug Holy Names 78-46. Four players combined for double digit digs in the match, with Leinani Keanini leading the team with a match high 24 digs.
