LOOKING BEYOND:
The Urban Knights are currently scheduled to close out the season with a five-game, four-day road stretch in which they will face Cal Poly Pomona and Chico State. AAU and the Broncos face off in doubleheaders on Apr. 18, 19 before the 2009 campaign wraps up with Chico State on Apr. 21.

SCOUTING THE OAKS:
Although Menlo College won just one of its first eight games, the Oaks have gone on two separate four-game winning streaks this season. Most recently, Menlo defeated Occidental and Concordia (Calif.) before losing two out of three games against California Lutheran. Heading into this past weekend's series with Cal Lutheran, senior first baseman Shane Parsons was leading the team in runs scored (31), hits (51), home runs (7), RBIs (41), and total bases (83). Freshman infielder Chris Mazza was not far behind Parsons with five home runs, 27 RBIs, and 72 total bases. On the mound, junior left-handed pitcher Brian Priestly (5-2) had thrown the most innings (50.0) of any Oaks pitcher and had a team-leading 2.52 ERA as well as 34 strikeouts to show for it. Senior righty Matt Simpson (4-4) was pacing the team with 35 strikeouts, but lower in terms of earned run average with a 6.00 ERA.

CSU DOMINGUEZ HILLS & SAN BERNARDINO SERIES:
In three games against CSU Dominguez Hills and one versus CSU San Bernardino over the weekend, AAU suffered some tough losses on the road. The first contest against CSUDH was split over two days and ended in a 10-1 victory for the Toros while the lone game against CSUSB resulted in an 18-2 loss for the Urban Knights. On Saturday, Cal State Dominguez Hills got on the board early in each game of the doubleheader and the Toros prevailed in both contests: 15-3 and 10-1. Sophomore first baseman Chris Vargas was 3-for-14 over the weekend with a home run, two RBIs, three runs scored and a walk. Freshman right fielder Martin Layton-Santos was 4-for-12 in the four games with the first RBI of his Academy of Art University career.
