LAST SERIES RECAP:
The Academy of Art University's softball team finished a two day four game series against Humboldt State University 1-4. The Urban Knights started the series off with a solo homerun by Nicole Palmer. Then with two outs, junior Shampayne Clay (San Leandro, CA)walked and advanced to third on an error by the short stop. Sophomore Alana Aweau (Fairfield, CA)then singled to score Clay from third. But those would be the only two runs scored for the Urban Knights as the Jacks took game one by a score of 10-2. Game two would garner the Urban Knights their only win of the series. The Academy of Art University's Nicole Palmer (Yorba Linda, CA) went 3-4 in that game with a homerun, three runs scored and three runs batted in. Clay also had a terrific game going 2-2 with a homerun, two runs and two runs batted in. Aweauwent 2-3 in the game with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored. Junior Ashley Roy (Roseburg, OR)went 2-3 with a run scored and a run batted in and freshman Jacqueline Nieves (Victorville, CA)went 1-2 with two runs scored in the second game.
Coming off a win, the Urban Knights came out eager the next day trying to take two from the Lumberjacks. But poor defense and quiet bats kept the Urban Knights from victory as they lost both games to Humboldt State, 4-1 and 12-3, dropping them to 6-16 overall.
