Urban Knights Win Home Opener in 3 Games

The Academy of Art University women's volleyball team won their first home game of the season today at Kezar Pavilion. Extending their winning streak to 4 games in a row.

The Urban Knights came out strong and never looked back beating the Holy Names University Hawks in 3 games 25-14, 25-17, 25-20 improving their record to 7-3.

The final set saw the match won on powerful kill by Sophomore Dan Yang. Yang, who has been strong all season, had another stand out game finishing with 9 kills, 6 aces, 13 digs, and a block. Ali Tyson-Taufoou had 14 digs, and an ace.  While Olivia white had 26 assists.  Nicolette Hagan had 6 blocks, 3 digs, 2 aces, and 2 kills for the Urban Knights. 

Head coach Marcus Young was pleased with the win "It was great competing at home and winning our very first home opener!" He said.  "We played the best we have all season and look to build on it."

They will have the chance to continue their streak when they take on the Lady Warriors of Stanislaus State on Sept. 23rd in Turlock, CA.
