San Francisco, CA--The Academy of Art University women's volleyball team dropped their last two matches of the season this past weekend, falling to Grand Canyon University 3-2 (25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 13-15)  and Dixie State College 3-2 (25-14, 13-25, 19-25, 25-18, 13-15). Both Matches saw the Urban Knights out in front early, but eventually, mental mistakes and missed opportunities cost them both games.

On Friday evening the Urban Knights played in front of the biggest crowd of the year at home. The Academy of Art University used that Friday evening to announce the Men's and Women's basketball teams which drew in over 200 fans to Kezar Pavilion.

The knights opened the first set on an ace by Ali Tyson-Taufoou which sparked the knights and helped them  jump out to an early 4-1 lead. The Lopes kept it close for a majority of the set but were unable surpass the poised Knights, who won the set 25-21.

The second set was all Urban Knights once again, as they beat Grand Canyon in the same fashion as they did in the first set. Winning with a score of 25-21.

The tables turned in the third set as the visiting Grand Canyon Antelopes started to gain momentum and ultimately were too much for the Urban Knights to handle, as they took the next two sets, 25-23, 25-20, to tie the match 2-2 and send it to a deciding fifth and final set. The fifth set was a back and forth battle with AAU reaching the eight point mark first, but  GCU came back and won the set 15-13, and the match.

On the night for the Knights KaUwila Lavea and Dan Yang lead the charge, KaUwila finished with 17 kills and 1 solo block and 4 assisted blocks, and Dan had  a match high 20 kills and 12 digs. Olivia White (25) and Alexandra Leja (25) combined for 47 of the 58  Assists for the Urban Knights.
