Rohnert Park, Calif. -- Facing the number 26th Nationally Ranked Sonoma State Seawolves, the Academy of Art University Women's Soccer team just fell short of another victory. Playing their third game in just six days, the Urban Knights showed no signs of slowing down during Wednesday night's match. Strong defense and great saves kept the Women close as they eventually ended up losing the game 1-0.
The Urban Knights came out in full force, knowing their opponent was ranked number two in the CCAA North Region. AAU had a solid defense, as it wasn't until the 25th minute of play that the Seawolves attacked. The shot came off a corner kick and was scored by Sonoma State's Brittany Peterson, as the ball slipped through the legs of the AAU goalie. The Urban Knight's defense continued to hold tough as they held the Seawolves for the rest of the game, despite being outshot on attempts 16-2.

Shelby Magallon had a tremendous outing and helped her team hold the score to one. She posted 5 saves on the night.
Therasa Sianez also came up strong for her team, managing two shots on goal.
“I am so incredibly proud of how the girls stepped it up and played today,” remarked Head Coach Courtney Cosso. “This game was all heart, as several of our starters are injured. This game is representative of our team growth and is a result of the effort that these girls have given all season long. We were a cohesive unit today.”
After losing the match, the Urban Knights record drops to 2-10-1. The Seawolves record improves to 11-3-1. The Academy of Art University Women are set to take the field again on Sunday October 19th against La Sierra University. The match will take place in San Francisco, CA at Kezar Stadium at 11:00 AM.
