Graduate student middle blocker Chandra Reed stood at the forefront of a historic defensive performance by Academy of Art volleyball this past week.

In the Urban Knights' 2023 home opener versus Biola on Sept. 22, Reed posted nine block assists, tying for third in program history while powering the team to 34 block assists which tied the ART U record. The Thrall, Texas native added six kills to just one error in the contest then matched her season-high with nine kills versus only two errors the following day on Sept. 23 against Westmont. Hitting above .300 for the seventh time this year, Reed added three block assists, two digs, and two assists in that matchup as well.

Reed currently leads the team in hitting percentage (.292) and ranks second with a 0.76 blocks per set average.
