Freshman Jessica Plazas made her first collegiate tournament a memorable one, reaching the singles quarterfinals and doubles semifinals at ITA West Regionals in Colorado.

Starting with the Round of 64, Plazas defeated her first two opponents without allowing each to win more than one game in either, besting Colorado Mesa's Kristen Thomas 6-1, 6-0 then Metro State's Kinsey Fields 6-1, 6-1. In the Round of 16, she got past Arianna Audelo of Point Loma 6-4, 6-3, but fell in the quarterfinals to the eventual individual champion Hawaii Pacific's Elodie Busson 6-4, 6-3.

Alongside sophomore Yun "Nicole" Shiau in the doubles bracket, Plazas first topped Colorado Mesa's Julianna Campos and Delia Maier 8-0 then Azusa Pacific's Katia Betancourt and Vini Margaret Bautista 8-2 to reach the quarterfinals. Another 8-0 win came for the tandem as they bettered Biola's Alex Mann and Brooke Fager 8-0 to set up a faceoff with Busson and Mihoki Miyahara of Hawaii Pacific in the semifinals which went the Sharks' way 8-4 before HPU secured the doubles title one day later.
