Two all-around performances were turned in by freshman outside hitter Ashley Mecham in a pair of victories for Academy of Art volleyball this past week. The Interior Architecture & Design major delivered averages of 4.28 kills, 4.28 digs, and 0.71 blocks per set on back-to-back days.
In a 3-1 win over Dominican on
Oct. 29, Mecham finished with 19 kills (tying her career-high), 17 digs, three blocks, and one assist. Eight of those kills and one block came in her explosive fourth set to end the contest. The following afternoon on
Oct. 30, the Kekaha, Hawaii native was back at it, totaling 11 kills, 13 digs, two blocks, and another assist as part of a 3-0 victory hosting Holy Names. The double-double, her third straight, was her 12th of the season.
Currently, Mecham ranks seventh in the Pacific West Conference at 3.14 kills per set.
